The son of a Coerthas shepherd and a Dragoon of House Haillenarte, Noel grew up in the lowlands of eastern Coerthas. His parent's marriage, given their differences, was not approved by his mother's household—a family known for rearing particularly capable dragoons, even amongst Durendaire's stock—so most of Noel's childhood was spent learning to tend sheep instead of the needs of a house of nobles.Even so, like all of Ishgard's inhabitants, Noel was raised with a keen awareness of the threat that Nidhogg's Horde posed to Ishgard and her citizens, as well as the dangers of becoming enamored with one's rank and blood.
Personality, etc.
Extremely shy and quiet. Trying to get him to open up only makes him more reticent, while also causing him a fair bit of embarrassment. He most readily opens up to people who don't pry and is a particularly good listener.
Similarly, he is very emotionally guarded and has an excellent poker face. He's generally considered somewhat intimidating because of this.
Slow to anger, but will also not hesitate to defend others if he feels they are being harassed or otherwise mistreated.
He dresses practically, most often for war, so his wardrobe mostly consists of tougher materials like leather and metal, and things for the cold. It's only in recent years that he's started to collect more soft goods, although he's afraid to wear them much lest he ruins them.
His interest in botany stemmed from how local plants affected the sheep under his and his father's care, and later, his chocobo Curiel.
Besides botany, his other hobby is amateur woodworking—mostly whittling animal figurines. He also likes to illustrate plants in his spare time.
Slightly taller than average Elezen, Noel stands at 85 ilms(7' 1"). Despite this, he was often considered small for his age as a child.
Confident in his ability to wield a lance and almost nothing else, aside from animal husbandry.
HISTORY
Noel was not a particularly mischievous child, and on the contrary was very obedient and willing to help around the house and with the livestock, the exception perhaps that he was more prone to studying the local plants and animals than paying attention to the family’s sheep. Incredibly fond of chocobos, he entertained vague dreams of raising and breeding birds of his own.Of course, having a Dragoon for a mother was equal parts inspiring and daunting, and he eventually turned his sights on becoming one himself—he began his official training at the age of 14. His mother, Oriane, fully supported his decision, given Noel was their only child; his father, Clovis, was apprehensive, much for the same reason.Eventually, however, his mother began to regret so exuberantly supporting Noel's decision, having watched the gradual erosion of her son as he struggled with the harsh realities of war. Nevertheless, his skill with the lance was apparent—at the age of 18, Noel was knighted as a member of the Knights Dragoon.At present, he is one of ten remaining Dragoons of the Order left after the Dragonsong War.

🏹 Need something hunted? — While still a Dragoon, Noel is not above hunting the occasional beast. He will be even more willing to help if it's troubling you or people in general. Tell him of your predicament, and he'll gladly lend a hand.🌱 Flora & Fauna — In his free time, Noel can frequently be found out(but not far off) in the field, looking for plants to sketch or otherwise collect and examine. He's very much an amateur but at once knowledgeable of the local flora and fauna of Coerthas specifically, so if you need something identified, he'd likely know!🐤 Chocobos! — Noel is incredibly enthusiastic about chocobos, more so than he is about other people, and will gladly babysit or otherwise take care of chocobos, their chicks, or both.
